Customize conditional formatting

You can use single-click conditional formatting right out of the box, but you also have the flexibility to format based on your specific requirements. This article explains how to customize conditional formatting for charts. Learn more about configuring rules for tables.

Click on Manage rules to edit rules.

1. Color scale customization for charts

  • Reverse scale: By default, darker colors signify higher values and vice versa. Enable this option to assign darker shades to smaller numbers.

  • Number of bands: Define the number of color shades based on your data.

2. Comparison band customization for charts

Click on the Comparison band option from the Conditional formatting dropdown to customize the bands.

  • Band color: Choose from built-in color scales or define a custom color scheme.

  • Dynamic: Enable the toggle to plot bar heights based on actuals and targets.

  • Show in legend: The band colors will be displayed in the legend. Enable the Show legend toggle from Legend settings.

  • Based on: The bands can be plotted based on the overall maximum value or a specific measure.

  • No of bands: Adjust the number of bands depending on the range of your data.

  • Color scale type: Select Qualitative, Sequential, or Diverging.

  • Reverse scales: The colors that denote higher value ranges will be used to depict lower values and vice versa. When you choose the Custom band color option, the Flip toggle works the same way as Reverse scales.

  • Diverging color: When you choose the Custom band color option, the default color scheme is a grey palette. Enable the Diverging color textbox for a multi-color palette.

  • Gradient color: Enable this checkbox for a gradient effect instead of clearly demarcated bands.
