Search & Filter

Lumel EPM now lets you 'search' and open the saved semantic models, reports, Power BI files just by clicking on the Search bar at the top of the screen.

The search & filter features help you to fetch relevant data when there are a large number of Files.

The 'Search' option helps you find characters, words, and phrases in your report.

a) In the 'Home' tab of the toolbar, click on the 'Search' icon in the Analyze section.

b) Type the text/value in the search box. Lumel EPM starts narrowing down the matches as soon as you start typing. Navigate through the results using the up and down arrows.

c) You can also search numeric values as shown in the image below.

Lumel EPM searches across pages if you are using the multiple pages option or if you have added page breaks.

2. Filter

Lumel EPM provides filter by row or column/measures hierarchies, along with Nested AND/OR filtering options to filter a range of data based on the criteria you define.

2.1 Create Filter

Go to HOME > Filter > Add New Filter. Create Filter pop-up appears.

  • Enter a name for the filter.

  • Select the 'measures' to which filter has to be applied from the Category dropdown.

  • Select the 'filter conditions' from the adjacent dropdown.

  • Click Save to apply the filter.

The data has been filtered to show only the rows corresponding to the brand 'Artisan Ale' as shown in the image below.

Filter is applied to the Audio category.

Once a filter is applied, it can be edited by clicking on the filter icon again and selecting the pencil icon next to the filter to be edited.

You can apply filters on manual input rows, like calculated rows/static rows/template rows etc.

2.1. Nested and grouped filters

You can add multiple filters using the 'Add Filter' option and can apply nested AND/OR conditions.

In the example below, we have filtered by the Brand Artisan Ale or Eclipse Light.

Add group

You can group the filters and also nest the grouped filters using AND/OR options. Click 'Add group' in the edit filter window. In the image below, we have added two filter groups with 3 conditions nested using the OR option. The filtered table is also shown.

You can delete the individual filters by clicking on the 'Delete' icon available next to the condition.

Click on 'No Filter' to reset all the filters.

Filtering manual input rows

Lumel EPM filters can detect manually inserted row categories and calculated rows. You can apply filters for data input or calculated rows just like you do for row categories from the dataset.

In the example below, Fruit Punch is a manual input rows created within the Lumel EPM visual. Notice how even manual input row categories are detected by the filter.

2.2. Column-level filter

Lumel EPM provides nested AND/OR column-based filtering options to filter a range of data based on the criteria you define.

a) When you hover over any column, a hamburger menu appears as highlighted. Click on the hamburger menu (column gripper) and then click on the icon.

b) Choose the filter condition from the drop-down and enter the filter value. Let us consider an example to apply the column filter 'Greater than 10 million' to the Q4 of Revenue measure. The data gets filtered to show only the values corresponding to the filter condition, as shown in the image.

d) You can add nested AND/OR filters by clicking the 'Add rule' option. In the below example, we have added one more condition - 'Q4 Revenue' less than 20 million.

You can click 'Clear filter' to clear all the column filters applied.
